LIBYA CRISIS APPEAL DURING CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC

We received an Urgent Appeal from Kremia Locality Voluntary Group as the situation is dire around Tripoli during the month of Ramadhan. Unfortunately, there is neither any registered charity working in that region nor government taking any practical step to help the poor community. It is only the voluntary or goodwill groups working in that region to provide essential food and medical treatment to the war victims. The war has intensified around Tripoli during last 12 months and there is a lot of cross fire between two fighting groups. This has created a desperate situation for vulnerable and thousands of displaced people especially during Corona Virus Pandemic.

The poor, elderly, vulnerable and children are in desperate need of basic food, medicine, and simple protective PPE for people in  need of daily necessities of life. An Appeal was launched by Dr Ahmad Salamat with the support of Sameera Foundation. The donations received are presented in the table below:

The Foundation sent the donations of £12,500 to Al-Bir Foundation for Development and Social Welfare, Tripoli, Libya. The Al-Bir Foundation is a Libyan Registered Charity and it gave £2,500 (LYD18,600) to Kremia Voluntary Group for providing food packs to families in need. £5,450 (LYD38,150) were distributed to families in desperate need, £3,050 (LYD22,125) were distributed to 31 families with an average of 7 family members and £1,500 (LYD10,500) will be distributed soon. The Foundation keeps the complete information of recipients of humanitarian support.

EMPOWERMENT SKILLS GRANT for the ORPHANS AND NEEDY

YOU COULD INCREASE CHANCES OF LIVELIHOOD OF AN ORPHAN GIRL / WIDOW BY SKILL GRANT OF £30

A major portion of Zakat and  Sadaqat are used to relieve the immediate crisis or problems of Humanity. Unfortunately, we rarely try to look beyond to develop ways and means to increase the chances of employment of people in crisis to relieve their problems for ever. Sameera Foundation with your support completed the construction of an Institute of Information and Technology for empowerment of orphan girls and widows. We hope to provide them a SKILL within a period of 6 months to change from dependence to independence.

We are trying to raise funds to train and empower orphans and the needy in Pakistan. To give them the tools to stand on there own 2 feet. This sadka jariah will benefit you as long as they benefit and feed their families. Please help us leave a legacy and raise a generation.

Take a moment to consider the less fortunate and donate on: http://www.launchgood.com/sponsor-an-orphan

In this blessed month of Ramadan don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity for Sadka Jariah. The construction of SWIIT – SAMEERA WELFARE INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION & TECHNOLOGY  is complete. Due to Corona Virus Pandemic we could not start the classes, however, as soon as the situation improves it will start its activities. The donors will be updated from time to time about the details of recipients of their skill grants.

2020 – RAMADHAN FOOD GIFT PACKAGE FOR DISABLED, WIDOWS AND POOR FAMILIES

L

“Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in this reward” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Sameera Foundation distributed 600 Ramadhan Food Gift packages to most deserving village families on your behalf. The charity work was done in three different  districts of Pakistan:  Distt. Attock,  Chakwal and Thatta. It is recommended to avoid gathering due to Corona Virus Pandemic. Therefore, our staff  delivered to the houses of widows, disabled, poor families and daily wage workers on 28th April to 3rd of May 2020.

The food package consisted of  Sugar 5 kg, one Tea packet, Dates 1 kg, Basin (gram flour) 2 kg, Cooking Oil / Ghee (Maragrin) 2.5 kg  and Rooh Afza bottle (concentrated juice) worth £11.50.

Two weeks ago, we distributed 25 kg wheat flour bag to each deserving family as a Relief from COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown. We have data of a few poor villages for the most deserving families. Our staff decided to  deliver personally the food bag at the door step of each deserving family on your behalf. This was done to avoid a public gathering according to the recommended policy of SOCIAL DISTANCE.  You could see the details of your donations for COVID-19  project at the following link: https://sameerafoundation.org/corona-virus-pandemic-relief-package-for-widows-and-poor-families/   The photos of complete distribution of Phase 1 and 2 can be seen at the following link:

JOIN TO HELP MORRISTON HOSPITAL COVID-19 WARD

The whole society is feeling the profound impact of corona-virus on every aspects of our daily life. It has caused the difficulties on the lives of everyone in the hospital. The things will get worse during next few weeks and we need to thank the staff and volunteers of  COVID-19 ward. It is inspirational to see our doctors, nurses, volunteers and carers who are working day and night to fight against this Pandemic.

Our unique sense of  SWANSEA TOGETHER demands to look into the food necessities of the hard working and dedicated Hospital staff/ volunteers/carers at this critical stage. Therefore, we are sponsoring 200 fresh hot meals weekly jointly with Swancea Central Mosque for the Morriston Hospital.

  • We sent fresh hot meals, salad and drinks to the Morriston Hospital on Thursday 9th April 20. 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶 was cooked by the most experienced Chef of Swansea. 200 hot meals were sponsored by 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗲 and partly funded by 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

SWANSEA MUSLIM COMMUNITY FOR HOMELESS AND VULNERABLE

The local drop-in centres for providing free foods to homeless and vulnerable are now closed due to Corona Virus. The non-essential contact with others is now stopped. Sameera Foundation also suspended the weekly food distribution activities on behalf of Swansea University. This situation has created a great deal of hardship for homeless and vulnerable in Swansea. Sameera Foundation would like to invite the  Community to join hands to provide cooked meal to the local homeless, vulnerable and residents of shelters at least once a week. Emergency plans are currently  under way  jointly with two local organisations to distribute cooked food daily. May I request the local community to contribute in the form of food items or Sadaqah donations so that we could  cook and distribute 60 – 65 cooked food boxes once a week. Sameera Foundation sent 60-65 hot meals with a drink, snack, spoon or fork and a napkin to Swansea Shelters or private houses accommodating rough sleepers and homeless. We sent fresh hot meals for 14 weeks or 100 days of lockdown period in Swansea. Our work is appreciated by the local news paper (link 12) and Sameera Foundation was also given a certificate of appreciation by Swansea Together initiative as shown below. CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC RELIEF PACKAGE FOR WIDOWS AND POOR FAMILIES

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

The Corona Virus Pandemic affected globally everyone. The Lockdown situation in Pakistan is creating an extreme of hardship for widows, poor families and daily wage workers. The Sameera Foundation launched this APPEAL to provide an immediate emergency food packet worth Rs1,000/- (£5) to widows, poor families and daily wage workers. The package will contain 20 kg wheat flour and 2 Kg sugar. The local committee decided to distribute wheat flour bag of 25 kg worth Rs1,200 (£6) instead  of a package of £5.

The donations facilitated us to purchase 570 bags to distribute for widows, poor families and daily wage workers. We have details of widows and poor families along with their addresses for both the villages of Shamsabad and Shah Pur.  The local staff decided to deliver the flour bags at the door of each recipients. This was done to avoid public gathering as  recommended  for lockdown situation to avoid any risk of spread of this virus.  Any amount left from this will be transferred to Ramadhan Food Gift Package to be distributed within next two weeks. The Donors will be kept in touch to see how their donations are being used.

The details of donations are presented below:

TECHNICAL EDUCATION OF ORPHANS of 87 VILLAGES

SADDAQAH JARIAH FOR THE TECHNICAL EDUCATION OF ORPHAN

The Chach (Abaseen Valley) is a region consisting of an alluvial plain and is about 19 miles (31 km) long (from east to west) and 9 miles (14 km) broad.  .  There are 87 villages in this relatively small but densely populated and the most disadvantaged region of Pakistan.

Sameera Foundation, a UK registered charity, works in the Chach region and observed that most of the orphans or financially disadvantaged girls are housebound without any skill to survive independently and honourably.  A generous donor gifted a plot of land and  the Foundation is constructing a Technical and Vocational Training Centre for orphans of this region (87 villages). This Centre will provide basic skills, trades and information technology to the housebound girls to increase their chances of employment to lead an independent and respectable life.  We hope to work with partners around the globe to empower more girls and women with the economic opportunities they need to act and engage as equals in society.

The orphans could also be imparted religious and basic education in the proposed centre in addition to technical skills.  The same centre could be utilised for training the orphan boys with skills to increase their chances of employment. In fact, this centre will also perform the function of a Multi-Purpose Welfare Centre for the poor segments of the villages by offering other facilities such as Health Camps, during college vacations, for FREE medical treatment of local, seasonal  and common diseases of Chach region. This is a unique opportunity for saddaqah jariah for as long as people will be trained and will earn a halal living for there families.

This project is a SADAQQAH JARIAH for the WELFARE AND FREE EDUCATION of orphan girls and boys of 87 poor villages.  It is estimated that construction of 5 class room could cost about £14,000 (US$18,000 excluding the cost of piece of land gifted by one of the Foundation Trustee. We started the construction, laid the foundations and one room is nearing completion.

The centre has 7 class rooms and the construction cost of one class room is about £2,000 to £2,500 depending on the room size. The Plan is attached for your consideration. We invite the Donors to reserve the construction of a class room dedicated to his/her name or your family name  as a SADDAQAH JARIAH. Your dedicated name will be kept forever.

We request you to help us and invite your relatives, colleagues and friends for this Welfare and Saddaqah Jariah project by generous donations.  The additional details about the plan of the Multi-Purpose Welfare Centre and its catchment area can be seen at:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1065699660260066&type=1&l=1365fef2ed
