A state of emergency is declared in Sri Lanka to deal with the devastating Cyclone Ditwah. A powerful cyclone left a trail of destruction in parts of the capital Colombo. Nearly 400 people remain missing and more heavy rains are expected across the Sri Lanka. Tens of thousands displaced as floods sweep across South Asia. The people are witnessing that houses are completely destroyed, bodies being discovered in the debris and rescue teams are still searching for more victims.
This is depressing to see that we in the UK have no information from the media about this devastating flood in Sri Lanka. Schools are closed, roads and rail lines are cut-off.
