SWANSEA MUSLIMS’ HOSPITALITY FOR ROUGH SLEEPERS, HOMELESS AND ASYLUM SEEKERS

PROJECT IS SPONSORED BY  SAMEERA FOUNDATION JOINTLY WITH SWANSEA CENTRAL MOSQUE; SWANSEA UNIVERSITY MOSQUE; AL-KHOEI ISLAMIC CENTRE AND SWANSEA MUSLIM COMMUNITY

The crisis in different regions of the World has created a lot of Homeless people, Asylum seekers, Refugees and many of these moved to Swansea. There are about 1,160 households in Swansea recorded as homeless. There is a greater occurrence of diagnosed mental health conditions, such as depression, amongst homeless people (39% in women and 33% in men).  The recorded statutory homeless acceptances in Wales remain 70% higher than in England. There are a few local places/organisations working in different parts of Swansea city providing hope and food to rough sleepers/homeless, asylum seekers and refugees on different days and timings of the week. Sameera Foundation realises that more work is needed for distribution of hot cooked meals to facilitate the life of vulnerable people.

Swansea Muslims’ Hospitality is sponsored by Sameera Foundation  jointly with Swansea Central Mosque, Swansea University Mosque, Al-Khoei Islamic Centre and local Muslim Community. This project distributed 1200 cooked meals since 1st of October for rough sleepers/ homeless, efugees      and asylum seekers in Swansea.  The photos of the events are available at the following link:

  3. Thank you for your generosity of time and heart, by providing much needed nourishment to vulnerable members of the community especially during the hard winter months. In doing this you have filled empty stomachs and lifted the spirits of those less fortunate.
