EID CELEBRATION LUNCHES AND DRESSES FOR ORPHANS (Brazil, Congo CDR, Uganda, Yemen, Madagascar, Pakistan, Libya and Egypt)

This project consists of 10 events organised in different countries after Eid al-Fitre. We raised about £1,346.12 on the occasion of  Eid ul Fitre to feed or help the orphans of as many developing countries as possible. Since then we arranged 10 food or gift events for vulnerable and orphans of Brazil, Congo CDR,  Egypt, Libya, Madagascar, Pakistan, Uganda and Yemen. Three events were done in Uganda and 7 in other stated countries.

In certain cases, the vulnerable and orphans were given Eid dresses, shoes, school bags or other essential items requested by the grant recipient community instead of lunches.

All events are recorded on our FB site www.facebook.com/sameerafoundation and it will be extremely lengthy to write the details of each event. A summary is presented below showing the title of the event as well as links to see the photos of the events.

#SameeraFoundation constructed Mpogo Orphanage in Uganda for 100 orphans.  Zainab wing accommodates 50 orphan girls and Aqeel Nazal Wing accommodates 50 orphan boys. We constructed it with the generous support from the Swansea Community and International donors. May the Lord of Universe reward the contributors immensely for this Sadaqah Jariah. Ameen.

The orphans are given new dresses and shoes on the  day of Eid ul Fitr on 21st April 2023.  The dresses and shoes are sponsored by Dr Akhtar Khan and lunch is arranged through Fitrana of Swansea donors.  One can see the pleasure and satisfaction on the  faces of orphans girls and boys for the celebration of Eid.

E – SUPPORT FOR ORPHANAGE SUNSHINE, LEXOR, EGYPT

Sameera Foundation came to know the precarious situation of Sunrise Orphanage in Luxor, Egypt. Sunshine Foundation in Luxor  serves as a “home, care, shelter, education, recreation and health facilities to abandoned, orphaned or needy children of Luxor”. Abandoned children, often conceived out of wedlock, are an all too common and sad reality in the country and one for which the government makes little or no provisions. Mama Pearl Smith from Birmingham, England used to visit Egypt and founded Sunshine Luxor in 1997 with four abandoned children.

The Sunshine in charge  Saied  provided a Wish List of items desperately needed by the orphanage. We facilitated them for the purchase of a Washing Machine, 3 Ceiling fans,  one ladder, 3 lamps, Bedding and Towels. About LE1,730 are available for the purchase of a few small items. We are grateful to Saied Salam for purchasing the required items and providing us with all the details.

Since Eid ul Fitre (2023) we have helped the orphans in various ways in different countries.

  • 100 orphans of Mpogo Orphanage, Uganda constructed by the Sameera Foundation, were provided Eid Dresses and a nice lunch on 21/04/2023.
  • Eid celebration lunch for 40 orphans of Kikubi Muslim Community Centre, Uganda on 24/04/2023.
  • Eid dresses for 17 deserving orphans of Taiz, Yemen.
  • A fresh hot lunch for 100 orphans of Madagascar on 7th May 2023.
  • Eid dresses for 65 boys and 35 girls of Benghazi, Libya on the occasion of Eid.
  • Chicken rice pilau lunch for 160 orphans of Aghosh Orphanage, Pakistan on 21/05/2023.
  • 52 vulnerable orphans of Congo CDR are gifted schoolbags on 23/05/2023.
  • Items purchased for the orphans of Sunshine Orphanage, Luxor, Egypt
  • Hoping, insha Allah, to feed 80 orphans of Muslim Orphan Cares (MOC) Uganda.
  • To look into the request of the basic necessities of Abandoned Children Welfare Centre,  BRASÍLIA, Brazil.

F – EID CLOTHES FOR KIDS OF NEEDY FAMILIES, LIBYA

The Voluntary Work Youth Organisation (VWYO) was sent £4,000 on 04/04/2023. They received 24,000 L.D to provide the kids’ clothes for needy families in Benghazi and surrounding areas.

The coordinator of this project in Libya selected the kids of needy families from Benghazi and surrounding areas.  Each family was paid LD200 for each child to purchase their Eid dresses. The number of kids provided Eid clothes  are 65 boys and 35 girls.

4,000 Libyan dinars were paid as a reward to the members of the organisation who worked during the month of Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitre.  In Bengazi, VWYO helped 34 families to provide Eid Clothes for 100 kids.

Unfortunately, the Libyan system does not allow to take any photos of the beneficiaries. The coordinator provided 2 videos showing the Eid dresses and gift items. Most probably these photos were taken at some sop or market. None of the photos show any banner showing the participation of the VYWO or Sameera Foundation. The parents were given LD200 for each kid for the purchase of Eid dresses. It is obvious the parents will purchase the items from a shop of their choice. The videos appear a meaningless exercise without showing any kid or parent purchasing any items from the market. The videos give the impression that either kids or parents were given some sort of gift boxes, but the coordinator does not specify it in his report.

The videos are attached in the e-mail along with report of the coordinator.

We distributed 52 specially prepared school bags for 52 vulnerable orphans of  AVPVEO orphanage on 23rd May 2023. AVPVEO ( Association of Volunteers for Vulnerable Persons and Orphaned Children)  selected children orphaned by the father and mother. 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 is a charitable non-profit organization registered with the Federal District of Brazil (DF). It provides care for 35 children between the ages of one and four years old. It is in an extremely poor neighbourhood in 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚, Brazil called Estrutural which was near Latin America’s biggest open-air landfill at the time. My friend 𝐌𝐫𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐬 worked extremely hard to develop it from a small, rented room to a two-storey building. Most children are from mothers who have been through difficult circumstances and are struggling to make a living, including victims of domestic violence and homelessness.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 is passing through a lot of financial difficulties due to Coronavirus Pandemic and desperately needs your support to make both ends meet.

𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 gifted various school items (panels, paper rolls, stationary, erasers, gums, scissors, food, and training items) on 5th June 2023 to facilitate the vulnerable children. Our special thanks for 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐨 for driving me personally to visit this welfare care centre.

Sameera Foundation is running a programme of feeding the orphans and vulnerable children of developing countries. We have done it for 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐂𝐃𝐑, 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭, 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐲𝐚, 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫, 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧.
