The local drop-in centres for providing free foods to homeless and vulnerable are now closed due to Corona Virus. The non-essential contact with others is now stopped. Sameera Foundation also suspended the weekly food distribution activities on behalf of Swansea University. This situation has created a great deal of hardship for homeless and vulnerable in Swansea.
Sameera Foundation would like to invite the Community to join hands to provide cooked meal to the local homeless, vulnerable and residents of shelters at least once a week. Emergency plans are currently under way jointly with two local organisations to distribute cooked food daily. May I request the local community to contribute in the form of food items or Sadaqah donations so that we could cook and distribute 60 – 65 cooked food boxes once a week.
Sameera Foundation sent 60-65 hot meals with a drink, snack, spoon or fork and a napkin to Swansea Shelters or private houses accommodating rough sleepers and homeless. We sent fresh hot meals for 14 weeks or 100 days of lockdown period in Swansea. Our work is appreciated by the local news paper (link 12) and Sameera Foundation was also given a certificate of appreciation by Swansea Together initiative as shown below.
